Does anyone know where the details of Losch's reasons for not appearing in court are?
I've searched the court files but can't find anything.
i have been watching the youtube videos about the new testament( also covers the gospel of thomas) and i find them very enlightening.
perhaps former jws can stop worrying what jehovah/jesus might do to them, they will be able to stop worrying about who has the true religion and find out, is aguest a sage or something else?.
also, these videos might help an ex-jw find a new way to get a spouse out of the kh, without directly attacking the wt organization.
I AM THOROUGHLY ENJOYING THIS. THANK YOU
since our fellow member "yknot" is posting a serial commentary on the latest "flock" book, i thought this would be of interest for some of you.
5:20)" - flock, unit 5(c), page 119. note that the flock book states that the defense witnesses must be excused after giving their testimony, so the rest of the hearing is "secret" to even them.
" - flock unit 5(b) page 111.. in the case of this kind of circumstantial evidence, the accused is presumed guilty, not innocent.
THANK YOU FARKEL THIS IS BRILLIANT
the jws visited me again today, and i have to admit i was surprised when i asked them if they thought animals would be resurrected.. now i ask this question from a lot of different religions.
most often i ask if people think they have spirits, but since jws don't believe people have them, why bother asking about animals?.
but i did ask about resurrection, which is the next best thing...i guess.. to my surprise they said no!
Have to post things separately as I am not very good at copy and paste.
But how is this for confusing:
Insight book references:
page 1005 Soul
So, too, the “spirit” (Heb., ru′ach; Gr., pneu′ma), or life-force, of man is not distinct from the life-force in animals, as is shown by Ecclesiastes 3:19-21, which states that “they all have but one spirit [u·ru′ach].”
page 1025 Spirit
God could ‘gather in,’ or could accept as entrusted to him, the spirit or life-force in a figurative sense, that is, without any literal transmission of vital force from earth. (Job 34:14; Lu 23:46) A person’s entrusting his spirit evidently means, then, that he places his hope in God for a future restoration of such life-force to himself through a resurrection.
My comment: Notice the word 'evidently' as they can't say for sure.
If the human and animals spirit (or as the Insight book states "the hope in God for a future restoration") is the same, then it would follow that the animal has that hope too.
This whole explanation of the spirit at death doesn't make sense.

Ecclesiastes 3:18 -22 NWT
" I, even I, have said in my heart with regard to the sons of mankind that the [true] God is going to select them, that they may see that they themselves are beasts. 19 For there is an eventuality as respects the sons of mankind and an eventuality as respects the beast, and they have the same eventuality. As the one dies, so the other dies; and they all have but one spirit, so that there is no superiority of the man over the beast, for everything is vanity. 20 All are going to one place. They have all come to be from the dust, and they are all returning to the dust. 21 Who is there knowing the spirit of the sons of mankind, whether it is ascending upward; and the spirit of the beast, whether it is descending downward to the earth? 22 And I have seen that there is nothing better than that the man should rejoice in his works, for that is his portion; because who will bring him in to look on what is going to be after him?"i ordered this book and read it a few years ago, and it resonated greatly with me.
i don't agree with all of it, but i haven't found many books that i agree with 100%, particularly those dealing with the bible.. i have recommended this book before on this forum for those questioning the logistics of the bible (genesis in particular) and i have just discovered that nate has offered the book now as a free pdf.
(incidentally, nate used to post here at jwd/jwn a few years ago, but that was before my time.).
Thank you for making this available. I am up to chapter 16.
I could not put it down. It has answered many questions for me.
i was doing some wt reading why superintendentes itinerantes as opposed to superintendentes viajante?
maybe all those rumors about the end of the c.o arrangement are trueafter all.
i got excited thinking that i was going to call it first on this forum.
I forgot to mention that it is paragraph 6 that has the early Christians with no capitals in governing body.

I think in paragraph 19 that is the Spanish translators error.
The English publications have been putting the modern Governing Body with capitals for some time, but they have not been using capitals for the so-called governing body of the early Christians. See the next article in that July 15th 2010 Watchtower it refers to the early Christians and does not use capitals. Then in paragraph 10 and 17 it has the modern day with capitals.
They have also done this in the "Bearing Thorough Witness..." publication.
It appears to me that the modern Governing Body is elevating themselves above the early apostles.
then 1 thessalonians 5 read about 'peace and security'.
the speakers instructed not to embellish the statements.. 'noble sentiments' was mentioned about the un charter but no criticism.. followed by the need for god's kingdom.. it sounded more like an advert for the un to me.
did anyone else hear it?
Thanks for you help I'll leave this all in your capable hands/paws Outlaw.
